April 12, 2008 University Center, Mich. - The track and field team at Davenport continues to make strides in only their first year of competition as they took part in the Saginaw Valley Outdoor Open on Saturday. Jessica Roodvoets and Denny Major led the efforts for the Panthers on a cold and windy day in Saginaw. Roodvoets competed in numerous events for the Panthers on Saturday and her day was highlighted by a few top 5 finishes. Jess placed 4th in the 100 hurdles with a best time of 16.70, 3rd in the 400 hurdles with a 1:08.50 mark and 4th in the long jump with her best leap being 16-5. Denny Major led the way on the men's side with a 2nd place finish in the 400 hurdles (1:03.06) and a 3rd place finish in the 400m with a time of 50.29. Davenport will return to the track on Saturday, April 19 when they travel to Eastern Michigan for the Twilight Races in Ypsilanti. |
