Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Davenport University Panthers Track and Field team was small in numbers on Friday night at Houseman field, but the results are starting to show. Two runners, one on each side, finished high enough to earn points for the first time ever for an individual in a Panthers uniform. Jessica Roodvoets led the way once again on the women's side as she competed in three events on the day. Her highlight came in the 400m hurdles as she posted a time of 1:07.64 which was good enough for 3rd place overall. She also posted a 7th place finish in the long jump. Denny Major posted the lone point for the men's squad thanks to his 6th place finish in the 400m. His time of 51.00 was less than one second from a top-3 finish. Chris Blik also ran solid for the Panthers as he finished the 400m right behind Major with a time of 51.18. Davenport will look to finish strong in their "last chance" meets this week in efforts to try and qualify for the National Meet. |
