Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Panthers golf team continues to push their way onto the national scene and after their first Regional Championship last week, their leader has been honored. Upon winning the Region VIII Championship, Head Coach Phil Sweeney was named the 2007-2008 Regional Coach of the Year.

Coach Sweeney, in only his second full year as the Head Coach, has led the Panthers to back-to-back WHAC Titles and this spring led DU to its first ever Regional Title. By winning the tournament last week that featured 13 other teams from the WHAC and MCC combined, the Panthers have qualified for the National Championships from May 13-16 in Plymouth, IN.
